Revisit all the hilarity of the complete fourth season of the Primetime Emmy® Award Golden Globe® Peabody® and SAG Award®-winning 30 Rock. Show creator Tina Fey and fellow Primetime Emmy Award® Golden Globe® and SAG® Award winner Alec Baldwin star as TV writer Liz Lemon and conservative GE executive Jack Donaghy who together preside over the everyday mayhem at a late-night variety show. Pretending to help them are mercurial stars Tracy Jordan and Jenna Maroney (Tracy Morgan and Jane Krakowski) as well as wide-eyed NBC page Kenneth Parcell (Jack McBrayer).Starring: Tina Fey Alec Baldwin Tracy Morgan Jane Krakowski Jack McBrayer Scott Adsit Judah Friedlander

    A marked downturn in quality...2010-08-212 / 5
I'm not dragging out the tired "Jump the Shark" cliche. Things haven't gotten THAT bad, but this past season has continued the trend that I've noticed since Season 2. Each successive season of '30 Rock' has been a more slightly worn copy of the previous season. This worked for myself through the third season, and the fourth season had it's highlights, but they were increasingly surrounded by episodes that had me looking at the end credits thinking, "Yeah, and?"

The fire just seems to be gone. Every character descended further into becoming parodies of themselves. The situations just aren't genuine anymore. I'm struck by how low-key some of the first season classic episodes seem by comparison.

'30 Rock' needs to find grounding again, and to knock off the incessant "Will Liz/Jack find the mate of their dreams". They're not worth investing in anymore, because the nature of the show demands a constant status quo.

I sincerely hope the forthcoming fifth season gets back on course, because as it stands, my collection ends with Season 3.
    Best Comedy on Television2010-07-305 / 5
This show is absolutely brilliant. The writing is clever and dynamic. Every character is fleshed out and interested, relatable and hilarious. Tina Fey plays Liz Lemon, a woman who has it all together and at the same time is a total mess. There's a little bit of Liz Lemon in us all, I think. Alec Baldwin is brilliant as Jack Donaghy, and I appreciate that just because the two leads are a heterosexual man and a woman the show doesn't try to force them together. The supporting characters all have story lines that are fully realized and funny and the show never talks down to its audience. I could keep writing for days. 30 Rock is fabulous.
    Another Great Season-Baldwin a Stand Out Again2010-05-295 / 5
There are two stars to this show. One is the writing of Tina Fey. The other is Alec Baldwin. The supporting star, who is also quite good, is Tracey Morgan. Tina Fey's Liz Lemon is the straight woman to Baldwin and Morgan. I have only one complaint about her Lemon character. I am tired of all of her dating men who are disasters story lines. Enough already. Do something else with Lemon, anything else.

Alec Baldwin has won Emmy after Emmy with this role and deservedly so. He is a fantastic comedic actor. His timing is superb. He is the perfect CEO for the network and it is hard to pick his most comedic bit this season. His continuing travails with his mother, Elaine Stritch, are certainly right up there though. It is incredible to remember that this same actor did only drama for such a long time before turning to comedy. The film world's loss was certainly the tv world's huge gain when Baldwin signed on for the series.

I had never seen Tracey Morgan before this show. He is hilarious. Basically his role is that he is good hearted but insane. One cannot act towards him in any sane fashion as it will incredibly backfire. His entourage, his family and Lemon must tiptoe around him as absolutely anything might set him off. Then there he will be doing something on the news that is right out of the Twilight Zone.

Jack Mcbrayer (Kenneth) and Jane Krakowski (Jenna) are basically one note performances. They are good but they are not complex. Thus a little of them goes a long way and that is exactly how they were used this season. He is the page with the heart of gold and she is the diva of the show, less a star than Tracey but convinced she can be every bit as big as Tracey. Krakowski also has an excellent voice which is used in the show's musical numbers.

30 Rock will be a comedy classic from this era of tv. If you haven't watched it before, you are missing out.
