What's a panda to do when his dreams of kung-fu awesomeness awake to the cold reality of noodle-making? Clumsy, overweight Po (Jack Black) dreams of becoming a kung fu master like China's revered "furious five," but instead seems destined to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather in the restaurant business. When great leader Oogway has a vision that the imprisoned kung fu warrior Tai Lung (Ian McShane) will soon escape, he declares it time to choose China's dragon warrior--one kung fu master deemed worthy of possessing the dragon's scroll and its secret to limitless power. Po and all the townspeople rush to the Jade Palace atop the highest mountain to witness the contest between Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Monkey (Jackie Chan), Mantis (Seth Rogan), Crane (David Cross) and Viper (Lucy Liu), but Po is locked outside the palace. After a miracle of sorts, Po lands inside the palace gates, where he is chosen as the dragon warrior and placed under the tutelage of the decidedly non-plussed master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman). An unconventional student to say the least, hilarity reigns as Shifu tries desperately to make Po into some semblance of a kung fu warrior. Can Po possibly fulfill his destiny as dragon warrior, or was Oogway's final decision a critical mistake? A film rich with hilarious moments, superior animation, and an important message about believing in oneself and the power that comes from within,
Kung Fu Panda is great entertainment that will have the whole family laughing and begging for more. (Ages 3 and older)

Dreamworks Animation's "Kung Fu Panda" will most likely be claimed as one of their classics. If not, then it should be. This film which stars Jack Black as Po (the panda) centers on a big fat Panda with hopes of being a master in Kung Fu, yes a panda and yes kung fu, you can't make this stuff up. He dreams of working with Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman)and the furious five -Tigress(Angelina Jolie), Viper(Lucy Lu), Monkey(Jackie Chan), Mantis(Seth Rogen), and Crane (David Cross). When Master Oogway(Randall Duk Kim) -a very spiritual and wise turtle- declares Po as the Dragon Warrior, Shifu and the furious five grow beyond angry that they not only have to train Po in Kung Fu but train him to defeat the legendary Tai Ling(Iam McShane)- the greatest, most powerful tiger there is. Can Po rise up and defeat Tai Ling or will Po, his family and the rest of the town suffer from the loss and destruction that Tai Ling will cause?
"Kung Fu Panda" is definitely up there with one of my favorite animated movies. It's clever, unique, and funny. Jack Black is a delight, the audience just wants to root for him from the first second he appears on screen. He's fun and goofy and it's great to see his personality shine through an animated panda bear with just his voice. Dustin Hoffman and the furious five are all individually great in their animal fighting roles.
The story line is very original and packed with really great laughs. I love how they slow down certain kung fu parts to make it more dramatic but it winds up just being funny. I also love that Po's dad is a bird that makes noodles.
In my opinion I think this movie is awesome. It is wonderful for both children and adults. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys animated fun comedies, movies with a lot of heart and a wonderful message to send to children of all ages.
If you saw "Kung Fu Panda" please share your opinion! Just don't give away too much, we don't want to ruin it for anyone! Also, I hear they are making a sequel how do you feel about that??

Alright guys, it's official- animation delivers the laughs better than *any* other style of comedy. This includes stand up routines, sitcoms with live studio audiences, or just your uncle Bob telling you a joke during a family visit. Kung Fu Panda absolutely rules, and the animation is one of the main reasons why.
I've actually wanted to watch Kung Fu Panda for quite a while now. I finally got the chance to watch it this afternoon. It certainly lived up to all the hype it received a couple years ago.
What makes it so enjoyable is the fact that the laughs aren't the only exciting thing about Kung Fu Panda- it's the outrageous and zanny action segments that really elevate this film to a level of untouchable greatness. We're talking a LOT of animated action here, folks.
The storyline is about a panda bear that's severely out of shape but dreams about becoming the ultimate master of kung fu fighting.
Eventually he's chosen to be given such a chance, with lots of special attention and guidance from his master (along with other friends). Unfortunately his laziness constantly prevents him from ever reaching his dream... until a really evil wild cat comes into the equation and pretty much forces the panda bear to stand up and fight.
I don't know what's most awesome about Kung Fu Panda- the exciting action and fighting segments, the actual humor and jokes involving all the animated animals communicating with each other, or just the brilliantly executed animation frames themselves.
One thing's for sure- you simply MUST watch this movie. Adults and children alike must watch it. You'll be laughing hard and heavy, I guarantee it! |

| What a fun movie. The story is outstanding and the animation is wonderful. The cast of voice actors do a fantastic job of embracing their characters and advancing the storyline through deliciously-quotable dialog. For younger viewers, the movie is captivating and compelling while higher-level jokes and cultural references abound for the benefit of adults. Both touching and humorous, this is a great example of a creative and interesting movie perfect for family and friends of all ages. |
